A unique modernist original landscape artwork completed in the Batik style by Ortrud Yates (American, 20th century). An immigrant to the United States from West Germany in 1968, Yates worked in the Batik method and was known for florals, landscapes, and fairy tale depictions. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a beautiful piece and is framed in a gold metallic frame, triple matted, and protected under plexiglass. It measures approximately 23 1/4 by 29 1/4 and is a heavier piece (so be aware because of shipping). Batik is an Indonesian art technique consisting of wax-resist dying applied to a whole cloth.
