First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Circle ‘Round the Square: Pictures from an Iowa Childhood by Dorothy Daniel (Wilfred Funk, 1959). A hard to find book telling of the town of Indianola in Iowa in the early 1900s, her family’s life and the lives of those who lived in or passed through town. With illustrations by Sam Kweskin. Jacket now protected in new archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffingnto faces and wear around the edges - including chipping, creases and tears. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Spine is a bit cocked and binding material is visible in a few gutters though binding remains fairly strong on the whole. Previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper and with some very sparse margin marks in pencil. See photos for condition.
