Introduced in The Expanse Season Two's 'Drive' episode, the Epstein Yacht served as inventor Solomon Epstein's experimental platform to evaluate a novel, high-efficiency engine. Initially a five-year-old private spacecraft, Epstein repurposed and modified it. During its maiden voyage, the engine's immense power sent the yacht spiraling out of control into the void of space. Luckily, Epstein's wife monitored the flight, using the data to refine the engine and create a groundbreaking propulsion system that later became standard across the Solar System.
