Vintage Boyd Clan Tartan Wool Tie. The Boyd clan is a historic Scottish Lowland clan from Ayrshire, recognized by the Lord Lyon King of Arms. The name “Boyd” is believed to come from the Gaelic buidhe, meaning “fair” or “yellow,” or from the Isle of Bute, known in Gaelic as Bòd. Early Boyds were noted supporters of the Scottish crown, with records tracing back to the 1200s.
