I think of the bag as a very wide hobo or a very short tote. 16 inches wide (like large totes), 8 inches tall (like a smaller crossbody). Notice in the photo that it is shorter than some trade paperbacks on my bookshelf.
The bag has two larger, zippered sections. Between those sections, in the middle of the bag, is a smaller zippered pocket. I carried this to dinner and the theater, and it held my phone, wallet, cigarettes, hand lotion, mask -- it holds a lot, and I appreciated being able to keep stuff in separate sections.
This item is pre-owned. The bottom corners show wear, and there is slight wear by the side seams. There are scratches in one spot. Overall, the bag is in good shape with no stains or tears. The interior is clean. I would keep using it if it really fit into my lifestyle.
