Handmade by single Craftsman using traditional tools/techniques. All surfaces are hand planed for a clarity and depth of surface you can’t get with abraded surfaces used in commercial furniture with "sanded surfaces", dovetail joinery is hand cut and French polish shellac finish is hand rubbed.
This is replica of Betsy Ross silverware chest currently on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts. Handmade of 30-year-old, aged Claro Walnut, re-sawn and book matched to create symmetrical, consistent grain pattern around across the chest. The floral arrangement prominently displayed on the top of the chest is hand carved from American Holly (~ 55 hours of work). As are the turned drawer pulls and the lift handle for the lid. Hand shaped cabriole legs complement the overall proportions of the piece.
