The Chest is made from Radiata Pine. The wood is 1 thick and the outside is stained with a walnut colored oil finish. The sides are joined using a haunched box joint. A box joint means the ends of the wood pieces are interleaved almost like dove tails. The box is then pin nailed for a super strong joint. The box joint also adds a nice decorative accent to the piece.
Every home has items which are necessary for for daily life which do not make for great decoration.
