Hardly any 'indie' band from Down Under has managed in recent years to break out beyond their continent and make headlines and chart appearances around the globe. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, founded in Melbourne in 2010, are the famous exception to the notorious rule. With 24 studio albums in 10 years, the band clearly displays their workaholic tendencies -- and it's just as clear that they genuinely enjoy what they do. Their blend of lo-fi (hard) rock mixed with garage, psychedelic prog, and blues is truly unique these days. It goes without saying that this sonic fusion is especially powerful in a live setting. The performances are consistently top-notch, even though the setlists change drastically from tour to tour due to the band's overwhelming output.
