These glass orbs have an ancient tradition as gifts. They were thought to bring blessings and good luck to the recipient, and eventually became known as “friendship balls.” They make magnificent suncatchers when hung in a window. The layered colors are intensive and beautiful. The semi-transparent orbs are also gorgeous as table decor, and they make great conversation pieces because they are so unusual.
Most “friendship balls” as 2-1/2” to 4” in diameter, and get exponentially more expensive as the size increases. This is a 5” sphere, making it more of a statement piece as table or shelf decor.
