Or perhaps they were radiant. It was hard to tell in the presence of the Council of Light. “You have indulged in the Seven Shadows,” intoned the Council Leader, voice soft yet powerful enough to fracture mountains. “Pride, Wrath, Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, Lust, Greed… each a distortion of your essence. You will descend to Earth. Forget your divinity. Learn what it means to be human.” The elements stirred. Earth shifted slightly, Wind whispered across the hall, Water rippled without a container, Fire danced in soft sparks, and Light blinked knowingly. “We will teach them,” said Earth, the voice low, steady, like soil under bare feet. “We will guide them,” said Water, voice flowing, a soft ripple in the eternal hall. “We will burn what they cling to,” said Fire, sparks licking the air. “We will lift them,” said Air, a teasing gust brushing the others. “We will call them home,” said Light, glimmering, illuminating shadows and souls alike.
