A beautiful untreated Misty Black Precious Welo Opal from Ethiopia. Photos are taken while the specimen is dry. This Opal is the good kind that will remain stable out of water and is best suited for facetting. This piece could look really incredible given a fine polish but I dont know how stable it is for cutting. A fine polish would work. This Opal has a different look and feel than other Ethiopian Opals. It has a great play of colors. The intensity of the flash is diminished but the fire is very intense. This gives the impression of a fine mist over top of the Opal. It is very intriguing to the eyes and encourages one to try and look deeper into the stone.
