The Superconductor is a lightweight “do it all” insulated soft shell jacket that pairs a 50D Chockstone face fabric with 100 gram Thermal.Q synthetic insulation. At 1 lb 8 oz it is essentially designed to replace the soft shell, or outer layer, and the insulating, or mid layer, into one piece for less weight. For the times when the versatility of a soft shell — good abrasion resistance, highly wind and water resistant, breathable and stretchy — is needed, but the temperatures are too cold for an unlined shell, the 100 gram synthetic insulation will fight off the chill. A nylon liner has been added to increase comfort for the users as well as add some extra wind protection.
