The "AIR MAX 95," designed by Sergio Lozano and inspired by the human body, was released in 1995. The structure of the shoelaces is based on the rib cage, and the outsole on the spine. The mesh upper is designed to resemble muscle fibers. While the design attracts a lot of attention, it was the first shoe to feature visible Air cushioning in the forefoot, a system that was also used in basketball shoes, making it a truly epoch-making pair.
This model is a Japan-exclusive model commemorating the 25th anniversary of the "AIR MAX 95," commonly known as "Cherry Blossom." Inspired by the cherry blossom, Japan's national flower, the upper features a digitalized cherry blossom graphic with lens-shaped layers. The city code and logo on the sole's shank represent Tokyo. In addition, the outsole, sockliner, and tongue of the shoes use "NIKE GRIND," a material made from recycled waste.
