Unlike those typically native to the Americas, any vampire bat encountered in the Balkans is likely to seem abnormally large and quite aggressive. The Om Strygia Necklace depicts a vampire bat of Balkan descent. Beautifully recreated in great detail, the bat pendant is little more than a great vampire bat suspended from a chain. The devil is in the details, though. The membranes of the wings are wonderfully represented in excellent form and the body of the bat is shaped perfectly, even down to the little details like its face. And even if this bat is looking a little over-aggressive, that is to be expected too, given the commonality of vampire myth in the Balkan region. An encounter with a Balkan Om Strygia might not be a good thing, except with this pendant.
