Chromexcel is oil leather made by Horween.

It's made using a method developed almost 100 years ago, called combination tanning, where a special blend of oils, including beef tallow, beeswax, vegetable oils, and fish oil (four or more types of oils) is applied and infused into the leather.

While regular leather uses materials with good oil penetration, such as petroleum, for efficiency, Horween takes several times longer, slowly soaking the leather in oil at its own pace. This process allows for a high oil content even in thick leather, creating a unique texture.
