Panchiko gained recognition after a 2016 4chan user discovered their debut 2001 album, "D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L" (reportedly only about 30 copies were made), at a used record store and shared it online. The band, shrouded in mystery and featuring iconic artwork using the Japanese manga "MINT na BOKURA," began to cultivate a cult following. Four years later, in 2020, the band members themselves became aware of the buzz, and in 2021, Panchiko reformed and performed their first live show in over 20 years in Nottingham.
