Datolite, from Lane Quarry, Northfield, MA
Datolite is a fairly rare mineral to come across these days, this is from an old stock collection mined some time during the 80's.
It has a beautiful crystal structure, unique and noticeably different from quartz and others. These pieces have crystals from clear to opaque with a slight greenish tint. A beautiful rarity to add to any display or collection.
This piece is the smallest at 67.4g (2.38oz), but is almost entirely crystal with very little host rock. It measures approximately 2.5 x 1.7 x 1 at widest points. It has a few interesting unknown inclusions in the very clear crystals.
