The name ECWCS (Extended Cold Weather Clothing System) on this Gore-Tex parka is an abbreviation for the U.S. military's cold weather clothing system. This systemized approach to cold-weather wear was introduced in the 1980s and consists of nearly 20 different garments (jackets, shirts, hats, etc.) with specific layering instructions. The GORE-TEX used by the U.S. military is thicker and more resistant to scratches and abrasion than that of outdoor brands. It's also easy to wash when dirty.
Purchased as deadstock from a vintage clothing store and worn for one season.
There is a sense of wear from use, but there are no noticeable scratches or stains.
