Made in the USA, 1976-79.
Among the many Targas, this is a fountain pen with the 1007 Chequered gold plated pattern.
This is one of the earliest Targas, manufactured around 1976-79.
Although it has faded, the original label from the time remains (photo 4).
[1] As is common with vintage Sheaffers, the nib slit is not evenly aligned. It's more like 7:3 (photo 3).
(After examining several of my Sheaffers, the slit alignment was off in 60% of them. There are almost no other pens where the slits are perfectly and accurately aligned.)
The nib has not been adjusted, so it may feel scratchy depending on how you write, but it writes without problems.
This might not be possible in Japan, but please enjoy the American "roughness."
The Targa is 23 carat gold electroplated, so many have worn plating due to age.
[2] The pen being offered this time also shows some wear and corrosion (photos 7, 8).

The condition is reflected in the price.
