In 1939, Ted Williams, the future Boston Red Sox star, made his first at-bat in a Red Sox uniform on April 14th, 1939, during an exhibition game against the Holy Cross College baseball team at Fitton Field in Worcester, Massachusetts. In that at-bat, Williams hit a grand slam, driving in three Hall of Famers: Jimmie Foxx, Joe Cronin, and Bobby Doerr. The game ended with the Red Sox winning 14-2. This grand slam is widely considered his first at-bat in a Red Sox uniform and a memorable start to his career.
