A very pretty 1980s embroidery of Jessie Willcox Smith's 'Flower Girl', or 'Girl with Basket'. Jessie Willcox Smith was an illustrator, active during the late 1800s and early 1900s, who contributed to many magazines and books, including illustrating Little Women. She's considered by many to be the best children's book illustrator.
This illustration, of a girl in a bonnet holding a basket of flowers, a weeping willow a lovely backdrop, has been printed on linen. It's been really nicely embroidered, with yellow detailing to the dress, leaves picked out in green and, best of all, bright flowers tumbling out of the basket. It's in a nice wooden frame that suits it well
