As a black woman I was taught by many people to stay strong, stay small and stay silent. When I reached my late teenage years I had to teach myself to be bold, be loud and vulnerable but not gullible. This painting shows that hard in between stage of unlearning those behaviors and thoughts. It was hard but It wasn’t impossible. I hope that you take in my art and It gives you your own personal message. I hope that message carries you through.
