Vintage 9" Old Castle Germany Stein

This vintage Old Cadtle Germany stein is 9 inches tall, featuring an engraved silver lid. The outside of the lid has dulled over the years, The inside is quite shiny.There is a tiny inscription in the inside of the lid around the edge but it is illegible. On the front of the Stein we see a mustached, hatted man with green shirt, red suspenders, brown knickers, and striped stockings trotting behind a woman in her dirndl, looking askance and gently holding her skirts. He seems to be approaching her in a kind of secretive way! This scene is depicted on a very dark blue almost black background. We see small, cypress trees and grass framing the scene. The German word “Madel” means “girl” and “ Ein lustiger Bua” means “A funny boy”.
The handle is quite elaborately carved in tan and brown. The upper and bottom rims of the Stein have a peach-colored glaze. The scene is in bright colors and has scrolly, swirly ornamentation. It weighs approximately 1 lb. 13 oz. Gorgeous to add to home.
