This is a wonderful vintage (mid-20th-century) sterling silver amoeba brooch designed by Henning Koppel for Georg Jensen. The brooch is one of a series of amoeba brooches designed by Koppel for Jensen. It is marked on the back Georg Jensen 925 S DENMARK 324 . The brooch is in excellent vintage condition, with minor wear commensurate with age and use. The clasp is in good working condition. The brooch measures about 1 11/16 wide by about 1 1/2 tall. It weighs about 11.3 grams. This would be the perfect addition to a modernist jewelry collection!
Koppel joined Georg Jensen after WWII, at the age of 27 and created a large body of design work for Jensen until his passing at the age of 63 in 1981. This brooch was designed by Koppel in 1956, and features a very modernist Amoeba form. Still current and modern. I’ll be enjoying it until it finds a loving new home!
